DrachenFest US 2026 is over, but what happens now?

On this episode, Carie, Jason, and Ryan hang with DrachenFest Event Director Dan Comstock to learn about the Event Review Cycle. During this time each year, players and staffers receive surveys to help make DrachenFest a better event. Dan gives us a peak behind the curtain into how these surveys are crafted, what they are used for, and how they lead to improvements and changes in the event's policies, procedures, and rules.

A unique aspect of DrachenFest US is the incredible youth program, The Drake Academy, which enables families to experience the event together. Samir King is the Drake Academy Coordinator and one of DrachenFest's Child Wellfare Officers. He stops by to tell Carie, Jason, and Ryan about how the program offers kids ages 10-15 a trustworthy, safe way to explore and adventure in the Dragon Isles, while giving parents time during the day to champion for their dragons! The Drake Academy is an in-game adventuring school that teaches kids the combat, magic, and alchemy skills of the game and the roleplaying and community skills they need to be great larpers.

Carie, Jason, and Ryan get to know Bela while discovering the opportunities that players have in the Bazaar – from shopping real world vendors and interacting with in-game enterprises to learning all kinds of skills from the guilds! We dive in to find out about vendors and enterprises, as well as the six guilds (or is it seven!?!?) and how you and your character can get involved.
